It Was My Burfday

On Wednesday. And it was pretty cool.

My locker got decorated for the first time ever.

When my English class sang to me, they all sounded like zombies. And not on purpose...

And I got a sonic screwdriver. That turns off TVs. Dang.

And if you want to know how to make one, my friend made a tutorial on Instructables. And if you don't want to know how to make one, be a dear and go vote for it, because it's in a contest. It's only been up for a day, and the number of views already broke the video. x)

I also got a loverly necklace that says "wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey".

And cake. So much cake. And the next day was Pi Day, so then I got pie. Mmmmm.

My Valentine's Day

Actually worth blogging about, and not me hiding in a basement eating cookies and watching Doctor Who.

I got a flower. Yes, that's right.

If I didn't have such sharp sleuthing skills, I would have fallen out of my seat with surprise. But I didn't, and I was just pleased. Super pleased.

That kid is bold. It's cool.

And then on Saturday I went to his house and did computery stuff. But it took forever. Bad thing? I don't know.

Also, I can't figure out how to pose for pictures.
I got the flower on Thursday. I took this picture today. I think they dipped the flower in formaldehyde.

*Edit*
A thought: I think that if someone knows you like them, it sort of reciprocates. Sneaky boy.

Sometimes I Say Stupid Things

I have this written on my calendar, so that I can accept that I make mistakes, and also so that I can maybe be more aware of what I'm saying so I don't make a fool of myself.

But at lunch I said I would basically sell my soul for ice cream.

And I couldn't even find a way out of that hole. This might turn out to be a thing this month.

February: the month when I say stupid things.

Laptops Should Not be Called Laptops and an Update on the Weather

Laptops. Y'know. You like to sit cuddled up with a laptop, browsing the web, hiding from responsibility or something. BUT YOU SHOULDN'T. DON'T PUT IT ON YOUR LAP.

There are three reasons that I have learned about.

-The laptop gets hot on the bottom and could burn you.
-The laptop has a hard time breathing and could overheat.
-The laptop get moved around and jiggled and it bumps around the spinning hard drive, ever so slowly killing it.

Kind of rubbish to me.

"Guys, I made a portable computer!"
"Oh my gosh, so cool. You could put that thing on your lap. You could go anywhere."
"You shouldn't."
"Why?"
"It'll break and stuff."
"..."
"We'll call it a laptop anyway. You really shouldn't put it on your lap. But you CAN."

"Look guys, I made a new phone."
"Oh that's cool, what's it called?"
"Wallsmacker."
"Why...?"
"Because you can smack it up on the wall."
"Wouldn't it break?"
"Yeah. But you CAN."

~Weather update

As of now, it's flipping cold. The internet says -2 degrees(F).

And smog. The air is too cold to go anywhere, and we're sitting in smog. No fresh air anywhere near here. It's gross.

Horrible downward spiral: it's cold so I will drive my car--the exhaust has nowhere to go 'cause it's cold--still cold, more driving--more exhaust--still cold, exhaust stays low where everybody's breathing.

Gosh darn it, if we all wouldn't drive around in the cold!

But that was a bit hypocritical, as I got a ride to school yesterday. A bit shameful, but if you can't beat em, join em.... it's -2.

Beauty

Let's have a heart-to-heart, shall we?

About beauty.

Society and the media have screwed it up.

To be beautiful, you must be stick thin, wear the right clothes, spend an hour and a hundred bucks on your hair, and do your makeup just right.

First thing: Stick thin. If you are not stick thin, you are fat, ergo ugly. LIES. Filthy stinking lies.

Let's be honest: the girl in the picture isn't even close to overweight! You're heading for anorexia*, chicky.

This picture. This picture makes me sad. No one should feel this way. Maybe you are fat, but if you are, don't stress about it unless it's posing a serious health risk. Just be healthy, don't think you're fat or ugly. I know a few people who are overweight, but by no means are they ugly. No one will mind. No one should mind. There are more important things in life.

Second thing: The right clothes. You must have the right clothes. MORE LIES. Honestly, people. You oughtn't look like a hobo if you can help it, but you don't have to spend a fortune or feel like your clothes are not good enough. I mean seriously, folks.

Next: Hair and makeup. Again, you want to look well-groomed. But you don't need to spend hours on your hair. Personally, I don't think it's worth the time. And people always complain about their hair, not to mention other aspects of their looks. People with straight hair wish it was curly, people with curly hair wish it was straight.
I respect this girl. She is proud of her hair. (maybe too proud?)

Makeup is okay. Don't put on too much, it's creepy. Personally, I don't wear makeup, because I don't want it or feel like I need it. If you want to wear makeup, go for it. If you feel like you need makeup, you don't. Not really. People who normally wear makeup look different without makeup, but again, people won't judge you, and if they do, they're nuggets. (that is the word I use to replace something more offensive)

And one more thing: don't complain about your looks or call yourself ugly. Please. Everyone is lovely in their own way, and don't think I'm just saying that to shut you all up and make you feel good. I'm saying that to shut you up and also because it's true.

*Anorexia is bad. If you or someone you know is suffering from it, they should get help. And maybe some food. Or possibly medical attention.

Lines

I auditioned for a play.

I have a name.

But not parents.

.....That's what you get when the school musical is Annie.

LINES, guys! I get to say stuff!

The Danger of Cookies

Maybe it was stress, maybe it was something in them, but when I ate a cookie today, I almost cried. With joy. And it was awkward. I saw that they were serving cookies with lunch today and so I bought a lunch and started kind of spazzing out. OH MY GOSH I HAVE A COOKIE AND I'M GONNA EAT IT REALLY SOON AND IT WILL TASTE AMAZING. And then I ate it. And it tasted amazing. But I might have to lay off cookies if they're going to make me cry. Because seriously...

Also, I auditioned for the school musical and I got callbacks!! :O

I love these cookie memes. They are my favorite.

Life Goes On

"...Every time you see them happy you remember how sad they're going to be. And it breaks your heart. Because what's the point in them being happy now if they're going to be sad later? The answer is, of course, because they are going to be sad later." -The Doctor, Doctor Who

Get your hopes up.

You Should All Be Jealous

Jealous of my family.

Me (to Suzie): I will hate you forever.

Suzie: Whyyyyy???

Mom: She doesn't hate you 'cause you're beautiful.

Me: *cracks up*

Suzie: I'm gonna go cry in a corner now...

And then we started singing songs about how beautiful 'you' are, and edited them to be derogatory.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mom: So you tested the cookies for poison, and you slid a row over?

Me: On accident...

Mom: You tested them on accident? *laughs*

Me: I slid them over on accident, geez! And the testing was quite purposeful; I even took two so that if they were poison, the effects would come on faster and we'd know sooner.

Mom: You took two to get results sooner? *facepalm*

We test cookies and other tasty things to make sure they're not poison, because it sure would be a shame if we shared them and they were poison and they killed people. Usually we assume the poison is slow, but I figured since we're sharing these this evening, I'd better test more to hopefully get poisoned faster so we'd know...

The Musical

We FIIIINALLY found out what the school musical is, after confusingness and stuff.

It's Annie! (Jr.) (which means abridged a lot a lot)

I don't know what songs they are leaving in or taking out, but I want a lead. I'm attention-starved and need validation.

Auditions in a couple of weeks. I must prepare.

Thanksgiving

Yesterday I played with a football (the American kind). No, I certainly didn't play football. I played with that football and had no idea what I was doing.

And I played sausage. All you say is sausage. Someone tries to make you laugh.
"How do you get your hair like that?"
"...Sausage."
"And those strange lumps?"
".........Sausage."
"Moriarty isn't a man, he's a..."
"Sausage!"

I also played Moods.

Good times with family. And alone.

Memoir Time

Winter has come to Utah, (but soon will be gone) and snow covers the ground. This time of year always gets me thinking about one of my first experiences with snow . . .

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named me. Both my mother and father had a job, so since I was not yet in school, I would go to daycare every day. In the fall we would play on the playground, and on special days in October or November, the adults would rake up the leaves from the great big trees outside into a great big pile, and the children would take turns jumping into the pile. Being but wee lads and lassies, the pile seemed all the larger to the us, and it was great fun for all.

But when all the leaves had fallen, been raked, jumped in, and disposed of, autumn came to a close and winter arrived. And with it came snow. I was but three or four years old, and snow was a wonderful thing, a thing of which I had little recollection. On the first day of daycare and snow, I couldn't wait to play outside. All of the children were restless, and when we got the opportunity to play outside, we all ran out to turn a smooth white blanket into something not so smooth. (yeah, I don't know what to do with that sentence)

Though this seemed my first experience with snow, I was glad to have an all-knowing and wise sister of five or six years old who, before going to school that morning, had taught me how to make a snow-angel. I made snow angels all over that lawn, or at least three. After our recess was over, the children went inside to stop snow off of boots and remove coats. I didn't have any snow-pants and my regular pants were soaked, but I didn't care. I had had some amazing fun, and I regretted nothing. But  then the lady who ran the daycare, Mrs. Incharge, I shall call her, came up to me.

"Your pants are soaking!" She said.

I looked at my pants. Yes, they were.

"You look like you've wet your pants."

(I can't remember if that's actually what she said, but it was something along those lines, and typing it up, I see that that was an extremely immature thing for Mrs. Incharge to say)

Being three, I was recently potty-trained, and I quite resented that statement. I had been working hard, and did not deserve to be accused of something I didn't do. I was downright offended! I explained to her that I had been playing in the snow, and it was water, not pee, covering my pants. I was insistent that she understand that I was perfectly continent. She knew I was wet because of the snow, but she kept saying that I looked like I had peed my pants, and if I wanted to play in the snow I had to wear snow-pants.

Thus ends the tale of why I wear snow-pants.

Shakespeare Festival

I went to Shakespeare Festival. And I have no awesome pictures to show you, but if Austin will send me some derp pictures he took of me, I will be happy to share with you.
I'm not vain.
Or photogenic.

On Thursday, I went to my first period class because I live close to the school and figured, why not? Less make-up work. So I went to science. I took a quiz. And then. Ohhh, then. I walked out the door. I walked to the seminary building. I walked passed the seminary building. And I kept walking. In the middle of the street, 'cause that's what I like to do when there are no cars. And don't think I was sluffing, because I was excused for all of Thursday and Friday.

I got home and finished packing. We left to go to the other school where I would be loading the bus.

*Complicated-ish story: I'm on the Shakespeare team for another Jr. High. A bit bothersome, but I love it.

I got my stuff out of the car, and went over and hugged my buds. My mom got to stay, too, because she was chaperoning. (coolest chaperone) The bus came, we loaded set and props and personal stuff, and we set off. The bus ride was not the most pleasant, but there was fun stuff.
Drawing fruit on hands. Writing Mad-libs. Filling them in. Wishing the music wasn't so loud and nasty.
But it was fun.

We got to SUU and toured. I can't really remember Thursday that much. But that was the beginning of a great adventure in my life.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday were filled with jokes, learning, gallivanting, acting, and some dancing. Unfortunately I left my brain home, so for some of the time, I had the mindset of a tired toddler.
"Do you want to do this?"
"No."
"What do you want to do?"
"I don't know."
"How about this?"
"Not that."

Isn't it nice that these people put up with me?

Things I learned:
-I hate swimming pools
-Improv is all about character and reactions
-Sleep is important
-Coffee doesn't smell so bad when you're in good company. But you can still sing about how dreadful it is
-It's not fun running from lower to upper campus in a dress

Thanks to people for carrying stuff for me, and it's very nice when that there are people who will run all around a college campus to get me weaponry. And thanks to Carilyn for putting up with me being obnoxious at one in the morning telling stupid jokes.

Many more things happened. But I shan't disclose them all, because I really need to do my homework right now . . . ;)

Procrastinatory Update on my Life

Procrastinatory (pro-cras-tin-a-tor-e) n: "I have homework . . . I think I'll post stuff on my blog!"

Thursday will mark the beginning of a great adventure. A great adventure indeed. For Thursday is the day the Shakespeare team will go to Cedar City for the Shakespeare Festival. I shall perform and be judged. I shall learn and play. Thursday will mark an epoch in my life. It is the climax of this story. This story of how I became an obnoxious thespian.

"Obnoxious?"

Obnoxious. As in, quoting Shakespeare more often than most people. Half of my conversations include, 'that reminds me of something we did in Shakespeare,' 'We did this really funny thing at the Renaissance Faire,' 'I wish I were in that musical,' and of course, overly dramatic reactions to things. This is obnoxious.

Tomorrow we will get our team jackets. Pictures will be posted. (I hope)

I got a dramatic monologue and was told it was comedic. So I tried to make it comedic. Then there was this part about death. So now it really is dramatic.

1000 Page-views

This blog just recently reached 1000 page-views! :O Though I'm pretty sure that a large percentage of these views belonged to me, this is still a pretty special milestone. (shniffle)

I saw this last night:
And spazzed out a bit. Now we are over 1000. How special.

Freshman Adventures

Though I am still in the Jr. High, I am a freshman, and I am having adventures.

~Going to a newly-built school
~Preferring the old one
~Working on THREE monologues
~Finding money in the road
~Friend duct taping himself to a bench
~Showing off
~Taking honors classes (duh)
~Taking almost every extra credit opportunity even though I am an A student
~Wanting shoes
~Ruining friends' appetites at lunch
~Scaring random people (on accident)
~Not taking choir (mild regret)
~I could totally star in the musical that my old school is doing. Not that I know what that is . . .

Well, now that I've got that all written out, it doesn't seem like much of an adventure. But it feels like one.

School

It began on Tuesday. I feel that the color I would use to describe my summer is greyish-brown. It did, of course, have lovely specks and drips of awesome colors, but my summer was not well spent. I resolve to do better next year.

In wasting a majority of my summer being a lump, I was not prepared for school, and all of the stuff that was dumped upon me. But now I think I am. I'm getting into school mode.

Such stuff I could type. Such stuff I shan't type. Such pictures I have taken, and neglected to take. Such such-ness.

Youth Conference

Last Friday and Saturday I went to my very first....

YOUTH CONFERENCE!

But it was a ward conf., and we didn't have an over-nighter, so the Beehives and Deacons were aloud to go. Call me a jerk, but if I have to wait, everyone should have to wait. >_> But I had a good time with my youngish friends.

Day 1- SLC Temple Square, and the Humanitarian Center

This is my sister

Day 2- The Devil's Kitchen in Payson Canyon, and some lake in a place.
I must say, driving in a canyon is the WORST. :P I get a bit carsick.... but no mishaps. And Devil's Kitchen is cool.
But my favoritest part was at the lake. Rope swings, baby.
